Meet Dr. Mehta (Ph.D)

Headshot of Dr. Mehta

I am a Licensed Health Service Psychologist with a commitment to helping clients achieve their therapeutic goals and improve their psychological well being, whilst providing a safe, affirming, and inclusive environment. My past experience includes working with clients of a wide age range in a variety of settings providing individual, group, and family counseling services; psychological evaluations; outreach; and consultation. I have experience working in private practice, private and public schools, inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, university counseling center, and a non profit supportive housing site. I have worked with a wide range of presenting concerns, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, OCD, and many more. I have experience and interest in working with marginalized and underrepresented populations, including the LGBTQIA+ community and BIPOC individuals. I am authorized (APIT) to practice telepsychology in several states as granted by the PSYPACT Commission.

What to expect

Clinical Approach

I aim to provide a warm, non judgmental, and engaging therapeutic experience rooted in cultural humility, where you feel seen and heard. I strive to be supportive, empathic, and provide honest feedback with a gentle yet direct approach.

Our therapeutic journey is collaborative and exploratory to facilitate the meaningful change you seek and foster self exploration/growth. Our sessions are interactive, meaning I will participate in the session along side you rather than being a silent, passive therapist who observes from a distance.

My therapeutic treatment plans are trauma-informed, culturally responsive and sensitive, and take into consideration the intersectionality of identities. My clinical approach acknowledges how various forms of inequity can present unique challenges for many individuals, which can have a negative impact on physical and mental health and wellness.

I use an integrated and personalized approach to best suit your needs. I do not believe a "one style fits all" approach to therapy takes into account individual and cultural differences. As we build rapport and explore your therapeutic goals, I implement culturally sensitive and evidence-base interventions as needed using a humanistic and strengths-based approach.

Therapy may include interventions from:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy [CBT]

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy [ACT]

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy [DBT]

Emotion Focused Therapy [EFT]

Interpersonal Therapy [IPT]

Balance is not something you find

it’s something you create.

You’re feeling overwhelmed by worry, sadness, shame, or anger and finding your negative thoughts and intense emotions seem to be in the driver's seat.

You’re immobilized by the fear of not doing and being enough.

Life is passing you by while you coast on autopilot.

You’re feeling alone and disconnected from yourself and others, often comparing yourself to others.

Whether you want to heal from past trauma, explore relational patterns, or explore your identity, I am here to be alongside you and support you. I can help you unhook from painful thoughts, and create meaningful change. You do not need to have all of the answers or be alone.
